Leaves you wanting
Action-packed, stylized shoot-em-up without any brains. If “WANTED” were a woman, it would be a dumb blonde pretending to be intelligent.

Let’s face it folks, “Bullet-Bending” has been done before by the likes of Lito Lapid and other Filipino B-Movie action stars. Don’t even get me started on the “twist” scene, Good Lord, It was screaming “Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back” all over again. George Lucas should sue.

The ending scene’s intention on breaking habits and seizing the day, albeit inspiring, has been done before. Watch Dead Poets Society, you’ll see what I mean.

The movie is chocful of bad clichés and puns that I yearned for the pills James McAvoy’s character has been popping. The overall cinenatography didn’t fully capture the dark and grim atmosphere of the comic book (yes folks, it’s a comic book movie).

All in all, it was still entertaining enough to sit through. I still recommend it like I recommend watching Pam and Tommy’s sex video.

So… What the fuck have you done today?

A meme from Duke.

“The man who doesn’t read good books has no advantage over the man who can’t read them.” -Mark Twain, (1835 – 1910)

Books that changed your life? Hard to say. A lot of the books I’ve read have, in some form or another, influenced the way I live my life, but none of them radically altered it. The one book the influenced me the most, though, was Go Rin No Sho by Miyamoto Musashi.

Books you have read more than once? Marami! I’ll just mention a couple of my favorites. Mother Night by Kurt Vonnegut, Tarzan Alive: A Definitive Biography of Lord Greysoke by Philip Jose Farmer, The Physics of Star Trek by Lawrence M. Krauss and Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman.

Books you would want on a desert island? Gravity’s Rainbow and The Crying of Lot 49, both by Thomas Pynchon for reading, and The Shopaholics series for toilet paper.

Books that made you laugh? The Dog of the South by Charles Portis and  The First 20 years of Monty Python by Kim “Howard” Johnson

One book that made you cry? So far, none, yet.

One book you wish you had written? The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers, The Robotech series by  Jack McKinney, and A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking

One book you wish had never been written? Escape from the Island of Aquarius by Frank Peretti, Do not be fooled by the title, This is not an adventure novel. This is reactionary Catholic propaganda disguised as an adventure novel. AVOID.

One book you are currently reading? A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

One book you have been meaning to read? – Agh! Marami din! The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoyevsky, The Colossus and The Bell Jar, both by Sylvia Plath, The Riverworld and World of Tiers series by Philip Jose Farmer, Howl and other poems by Allen Ginsberg, Tarantula by Bob Dylan, Junkie by William S. Burroughs (under the pen name William Lee), Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin, and the list goes on…
